Singer Chavela Vargas , born in Costa Rica but a Mexican national, died Sunday afternoon August 5 to 93 years after a respiratory arrest. Known for songs like "La Llorona "Chavela Vargas became famous for his portrayal of music ranchera and for pioneering within the female performers of the genre.
