This post is part of our special coverage of the 2012 London Olympics . The 2012 London Olympics have already started a week after, and while the medal is strongly disputed between China and America, Central America has also experienced moments of joy and excitement with small gains amid allegations of lack of support and obvious comparisons between highly trained athletes and some semi-amateurs. Social networking has been a fundamental part of these Games, where Twitterers share their views, grievances and dreams that Central America takes a medal in these games. These are some of the highlights so far. Guatemala With a delegation of twelve athletes, Guatemala has had on Kevin Gordon and Ana Sofia its best representatives this week. Gordon managed to advance to the next round at Badminton and give a tough fight before being knocked out. The Guatemalans were satisfied and proud of this involvement, as demonstrated by Mario Santizo ( @ mario_santizo ), who tweeted excited after first win:

Honduras Honduras reached the highlight of the week when the boys' soccer team won the very favorite Spanish team. Honduras is the only country in Central America involved in a team sport. Honduras also drew with Morocco and Japan, qualifying to the quarterfinals where they must deal with another favorite: Brazil.
