On July 24, 2012, just before the Olympic torch circulate through London , the national flag of Taiwan was removed from the street Street in the capital of the United Kingdom. All other flags are hung to welcome the representatives from around the world to these summer Olympics.

Many Taiwanese were disappointed about the sudden disappearance of the flag. The Facebook user Yi-hao Liao complained [zh]:

哀 ... 原本 还 高兴 一下 下 的

Sigh ... I was happy for a moment.

London prepares to welcome the world to the opening of the Olympics.

Lol_oopsie Reddit user asked [on] why the flag was removed:

I have curiosity to know if officials panicked Londoners, or if the Chinese authorities warned them that they should remove it. Anyway, I think it deserves that we pay attention to the fact. All Olympic coverage has ignored the issue.

Another user of reddit, mintytiny tried to answer [in]:

Although no explanation was offered, according to the Regent Street Association, the Olympic flag will replace the used to represent Taiwan.
I must say this is nonsense and that a real explanation would be better.

Another user of Facebook, Melissa Alexender, made a photographic protest against the removal of the national flag of Taiwan:

Under the photo, Melissa called for others to send emails to the team that manages Regent Street, Anastasia, and asked to replace the flag of Taiwan. In response to his call, Kenneth Wong, of the Regent Street Association posted a response under the photo of Melissa:

Dear Kenneth

Thank you for your email.

This issue has been raised and I can confirm that the flag of China Taipei will again set for tomorrow afternoon.

I can assure you that all the flags of competing nations will be shown.

Sincerely,

Lucy Turnbull
Regent Street Association Ltd

Melissa Alexender was disappointed [in] with the answer:

We do not want the flag of Taipei China, but our national flag! A Regent Street is not covered by the Olympic Route Network in London and is part of the Olympic Stadium, so there is no reason to oppose Taiwan's national flag up!

Meanwhile, the designer Tammy Lin wrote a post happy which makes some creative suggestions [in] to rectify the situation as Taiwanese flag raising in secret, transforming a warning flag in 3D or put through a QR code .
