Alcazaba de Almería

Alcazaba de Almeria knows this historic monument. This coastal town, port and historic (founded in the tenth century by King Hakim), is the capital of the province of Andalusia. It is located in southeastern Spain, along the Mediterranean Sea and bordered by the river Andarax.

The fortress was built at the defense, built in 995 by Abd ar-Rahman III. It is a Moorish fortress that extends in the form of semicircles (retains this representation when it was built).

It is, after the Alhambra, the largest Muslim construction in Spain (over 1400 meters of perimeter wall). It is also the representative of the whole monument Almeria was declared a National Monument (in 1931) and Monumental (1989).

Consists of three campuses: one that served as a military area and refuge for the people, another facility where they were staying palate, and the third to be built at the request of Ferdinand and Isabella after the Christian conquest.

On the other hand, in Almería is an outstanding historic precinct, between Rambla de Belén and the sea, where there are few buildings of great historical value as the Almedina Street, Wall khayran and Cerro de San Cristobal, Arab Aljibes khayran, Wall Caliphate, Street of Shops, Church of St. John the Evangelist Cathedral, among others.
