Urueña

Urueña unique Villa Book Spain a. Located in the province of Valladolid, in Castilla y Leon, this city was first declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1975 and in 2007 Villa del Libro.

This appointment I have over thirty world cities (such as Hay-on-Wye and Wigtown, United Kingdom; Montolieu of France ; Montereggio Italy; Redu in Belgium , Jinbo and Kenbuchi, Japan, among several others), but in Spain is unique. In addition to encouraging reading, this city revitalizes its history, stressing its medieval beauty.

A Great Wall, Gothic-Renaissance, is the protagonist of Urueña, corresponding to the twelfth and thirteenth centuries, and has two doors: the main gate of Quicksilver, and the Arco de la Villa. It is the best preserved of the province of Valladolid and offers a spectacular view of the town.

In addition, it highlights Urueña Castle (XI century), in which they lived important personalities in the history of Spain , and the Church of Our Lady of the Annunciation (XI century), which is outside the walled in the valley.

In Urueña, only Villa Book Spain, ten libraries will live up to their title. What is striking is that, for example, seven of which are built on the walls. Also, some books are dedicated to selling curious, different, off the list of bestsellers.

On the other hand, is here the only association in the country devoted to calligraphy, Alcuin, which means that whoever wants to can be a totally unique book, with a dedication to the font you choose.

With regard to tourism, the appointment of Urueña as Villa Book has been very positive: it went from 15,000 visitors per year to 75,000.
