The magazine France Football, which is responsible for giving each year's Golden Ball, has to make public the name of the 30 official candidates to win the award, but according Marca.com, these are the five names that are favorites for take it.

With three players among the protagonists, the Spanish football might finally have another gold ball after the last received by Luis Suarez back in 1960 (FC Barcelona). Also Alfredo Di Stefano won the trophy twice, 1957 and 1959. Now, three Spanish players have the possibility to take him, a possibility which would not have if not for being champions of Europe, that is clear.

And is that each player has its share of favoritism to win the trophy away from him who is going to give that media power saw Cristiano Ronaldo, now that the English League emerged as the best in the world, is the clear favorite to take it.

First, Lionel Messi is the best player of the moment. At 21, is the youngest of the five, but also has the most quality, and not aminal at key moments, as can happen to Cristiano Ronaldo, who both in the final of the Champions League (ok, a penalty can fail any) and the Euro (yes that was missing here, though we can blame the tiredness). However, the lack of titles with his club are a drain that will surely take Argentine to win the trophy not (do not think that winning the Olympics carry too much).

Of the three Spanish, as of Iker Casillas is virtually impossible task. Oliver Kahn when he was the greatest thing under some trees, only to be third in the voting in two consecutive years. Iker Casillas deserves the golden ball, but I doubt I will get there, although it has been a hero to both the Spanish selection to Real Madrid (and not just this year, saving the furniture takes a long time. There is a before and after in the perception of Iker Casillas as savior: the 2002 Champions League final against Bayer Leverkusen).

Fernando Torres and Xavi would have more chances to win, but if I have to opt for one of the two, I decantaría by Fernando Torres. Sure, he has not done more deserving than another player to do so. Yes, a huge leap in quality and author of the goal in the final of Euro, but the French have freaked us. How do you account if not the highest performer of the Champions League has not won the trophy in their golden years? It is impossible for him to win, not because he is to retire, but because the level is not offered.

Conclusion: The main favorite is Cristiano Ronaldo. At least if they give it, not cowering in the big races.
