The tragedy was present again in motorsport. This time, it was the most popular category of American cars: the IndyCar . The victim, a talented British driver who stayed on two occasions with the famous Indianapolis 500 and the class title in 2005: Dan Wheldon .

The shocking accident that took the life of this car was in the circuit of Las Vegas 300. It was a pileup on lap 12 that involved 15 vehicles.

Dan Wheldon

Daniel Clive Wheldon was born in Emberton, England, United Kingdom, June 22, 1978 and 2005 champion of the IndyCar Series runner-up in 2004 and 2006. In Britain he is remembered for his duels in local categories with Jenson Button, winner of the Formula 1 2009 with the late Brawn GP team.

On October 16, 2011, at a bend in Las Vegas ended his life at 33 years of age.
