The mystery over the age of Yi Jianlian

All will remember that during the Beijing Olympics, a few Chinese athletes were accused of lying about his age (especially in gymnastics). However, the eaves of New Jersey Nets, Yi Jianlian, is also involved in such problems.

The Chinese edition of Sports Illustrated's college records found Yi Jianlian in which specified that the player was born in 1984. However, official data as a basketball player say he was born in 1987. In New Jersey Nets listed as born on 27 October 1987.

The age of players is often changed to appear to be younger, in pursuit of power be eligible to participate in youth tournaments. Right now for Yi Jianlian does not make sense, but to lie once the snowball becomes more big. This could cause problems for the player, such as sanctions, when it has achieved some success (such as playing in the NBA).

During the Beijing Olympics, the Chinese gymnast team was investigated because it was suspected that some members were under 16 years minimum age to compete. They were acquitted. However, still being investigated at the same country for the Olympic Games Sydney 2000, where it happened the same problem.
