Spain and Portugal have formally submitted a joint bid with a view to organizing the World Cup 2018. They will face England, Australia, USA and the joint bid from Netherlands-Belgium, which already hold Euro 2000.

Copa_del_mundo Why hold a World Cup between the two countries? Many are those who think that Spain has no need for Portugal to host the World Cup, which is true, but along with the nation celebrate lusa can pay ahead of the vote. However, the infrastructure of our neighboring country are not even remotely close to ours, so playing there for 50% of the matches does not seem very appropriate.

Spain previously hosted the 1982 World Cup, while England did in 1966, which was won (one time). The United States celebrated in 1994, a competition that was an absolute success, and Australia, Holland and Belgium never been held.

Personally, I like the joint candidacies, although in a World Cup is less noticeable. But in the last European Championship (which will be repeated also with Poland and Ukraine), the two host countries have lowered the quota to 14 teams ranked. In a World Cup, however, the blow is less, as are 32 teams participating.

Spain has some years left in which could be holding winning such important events as the 2014 World Basketball Championship and the 2016 Olympics.
