In 1984, the year that Michael Jordan would enter the NBA, was forged in the League again provided the rivalry. East vs. West. Celtics against Lakers, this time embodied in the collision of two freight trains weighing: Magic Johnson and Larry Bird.

In the 1984 Finals, Larry Bird was the MVP of the Finals and the Celtics got the ring, but the following year, in 1985, the final would be repeated, this time with a favorable outcome for the Lakers of Magic and especially Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who was already a whopping 38 years.

Again, the Lakers reached the Finals and there again met Larry Bird and the Celtics, beating 4-2, thanks to a hook by Johnson against Kevin McHale and Robert Parish, two men bigger than him, and giving victory over the Lakers in Game Six of 107-106.

It began a new season and Pat Riley said the Lakers would win another ring, which they did not since the late 60s. And they got to the Bad Boys of Detroit, winning 4-3 in the Finals in a number of interesting that Magic Johnson was the hero, but a call forward James Worthy, who scored 36 points, 16 rebounds and 10 assists in the last game .

The next season would be the second in which Magic Johnson would win the MVP, but was injured in the playoffs and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, who had 42 years, saw its farewell season fell in the Finals against Detroit Pistons 4-0.

And so began another story of Magic Johnson. Just before the 1991-92 season, Magic Johnson shocked the world announcing he was HIV positive, and would retire from the NBA. That same season, Magic Johnson was selected by the public to play the AllStar Game, although among his peers had detractors, as the case of Karl Malone, who claimed that a deadly virus could infect. As if it were a movie, again in his life, Magic Johnson won the MVP in the AllStar Game.

It was the Magic's last appearance in the world of basketball, because in 1992, USA selected him as a member of the famous Dream Team of the Summer Olympics.

At the age of 32 years, Magic Johnson in 1995-96 returned to play 32 games. Many people think that Magic Johnson has been the best player in basketball history. Among them, one of the biggest, its longtime rival Larry Bird:

"I've never seen anyone as good as him"
