While Alberto Contador has done something even Miguel Indurain won (getting win the big three), no one can deny that Navarre is the best rider who has given our sport throughout history. It may be beaten later or later, but now, no one has surpassed Miiguel Indurain.

Indurain

Before he arrived Lance Armstrong to thwart the work of many, there were only four riders who had achieved five victories in the Tour de France: Jacques Anquetil, Eddy Mercx, Bernard Hinault and Miguel Indurain, the only one who got them from consecutively (1991 to 1995). After the monster would be American to achieve seven consecutive titles and set the bar high when someone can pass him. They agreed at the World Cup 1993, when the young Armstrong stormed to victory as Miguel Indurain had to make do with second place.

However, Lance Armstrong only focused on the Tour, not the other major players in the cycling cited. Miguel Indurain was also winner of two Giros d'Italia, in 1992 and 1993. However, he failed to win the Tour of Spain, where he finished second in 1991.

However, although it could not achieve victory in the Tour of Spain, his resume also lived other international successes as winner in the world time trial in 1995 and the gold medal at the Atlanta Games 96 in the same discipline.

The Navarre was named best athlete of the twentieth century Spanish, in addition to being recognized by the neighboring country with the Legion of Honor.
