In 1987, in the Prince of Asturias Award for sports mode, which sought to reward the best sportsman of the year or an entire career. This year sounds Pep Guardiola for the award. Therefore, this duality of features, make this award in little more than a little farce to go on television. I mean, why a year is given the prize to someone who has managed to win a World Cup and another is given the prize to someone who has won everything during a race? I think this award is not anything serious. There are many facts that will confirm my words for some, that this award is carried away by the euphoria of the season, refusing to see the clearest evidence. Fernando Alonso won the Prince of Asturias prize when he became double world champion, but Michael Schumacher, who had won five championships, received him in 2007 when he retired. You can not reward the whole career of an athlete a year and a splendid year in another. Do not say that Fernando Alonso does not deserve it, and probably would have received once removed (with the odd championship and certainly by the fans who have created in Formula 1) but before him, that year there were others. In 2002 the award went to the Brazilian National Soccer Team ... why in 2006 it was for Italy? Because it was for the national team of basketball, for which I am a faithful defender, but if we give an award to a team to win a tournament, it will be impossible to please all the other teams that do the same. Now Playing Pep Guardiola for the incredible year of FC Barcelona. He has said, sensibly, that is very soon and would prefer to give him another. And he has every reason in the world. There are athletes like Lance Armstrong, Miguel Indurain, Hicham El Gerrouj, Carl Lewis or Steffi Graf, and Pep Guardiola still has a long way to go. Why not give the prize to the 12 +1 times World Campón Angel Nieto?
