Rafa Nadal, Fernando Verdasco, David Ferrer and Feliciano Lopez defeated the Czech Republic in the Davis Cup final 5-0. The work was done yesterday afternoon, when Verdasco and Lopez beat the Czech pair, Stepanek and Berdych. Earlier, Rafael Nadal had beaten Berdych, David Ferrer, going back heroically, to Stepanek. The matches today were mere formality, but also won David Ferrer and Rafa Nadal.

There are four years that Spain has won the Davis in just nine years. It began with the great heyday of Juan Carlos Ferrero against Australia in 2000 and repeated in 2004 before the United States. Last year he won his first bowl away from home, playing against Argentina in Mar del Plata and this weekend won the trophy at home by defeating the Czech Republic.

Spain is the sixth country that has sometimes won the tournament, behind the United States, Australia, France, Britain and Sweden, although it should be noted that the number unobtainable U.S. and Australia (32 and 28, respectively) is due in large part to the champion of the previous edition only played the tournament final at home next and, thus encouraging authentic eras of domination by the countries.

Next year will begin their title defense against Switzerland, playing at home. For clarification, we have to say that the team plays at home a playoff is because the previous clash between the two countries was played in the house opposite. That is, the last time Switzerland and Spain clashed played in Switzerland.

Spain has won the fourth bowl in their history by defeating Serbia (4-1), in Germany, with Juan Carlos Ferrero who returned to savor the sweetness of success erecting hero of the Davis (3-2, his final point). In the semifinals we face Israel (4-1) and finally to the Czech Republic (5-0).
