They will be 15 stages with only one rest day and ending again in Buenos Aires in four different categories: Trucks, Quad bikes, cars and motorcycles. Dakar Rally history stretches back to 1977, when Thierry Sabine got lost on his motorbike in the Libyan desert during the course of another rally. As you can understand, lost in the desert, and more in those years, could mean death. But Thierry was saved at the last moment by the rescue team. Despite the bitter pill to swallow, the rider was impressed by the desert landscape and had a vision: create a Rally of the unknown. Thus was born on 26 December 1978 the Rally Paris - Dakar. The departure cities changed, like the arrival (Granada also had its particular stage of the rally large) and last year was first staged by South American land.

Among the Spanish, highlights Marc Coma, the current force winner (also won in 2006). Also noteworthy to Nani Roma, winner in 2004, motorcycles, even after the year 2005 was dedicated to competing in cars.

And, of course, the great Carlos Sainz, the bastion of bad luck, to try to win again last year when he suffered an accident which prevented his victory.
