José María Gutiérrez, better known by the football world as Guti, is a banner of Real Madrid, where life leads, and, as a veteran, is the second captain.

Guti is a symbol for Real Madrid. Throughout his sporting career has received offers from many clubs, but always refused to pursue the dream of succeeding in the Real Madrid, team that came when he was only 9 years old. Still, the story with the white club has been busy, as has always combined periods of good play with periods of oblivion.

His first big moment came with Vicente del Bosque, after four years in the first team (he debuted in the hand of Jorge Valdano) and who first gave him the confidence of a spot on the pitch. Proof of the confidence gained from Salamanca coach and qualitative leap in his game was the debut for the Spanish (which has never jelled) in 1999.

In the 2000-2001 season Guti, who is a midfielder, had to replace the injured Fernando Morientes and finished with 14 goals. However, Guti has always had a strong character and that season had an incident with fans of Villarreal, whom he called rednecks. His remarks outbursts have been a constant ever since.
