It was 1994 when the Formula 1 authorities decided some changes in the powerful cars in the category. The technological changes driven by the builders, were not accompanied by necessary security measures and as usual, several drivers were affected, as it happened on that tragic weekend in Imola.

The cars were getting faster and fight for the championship surprised a young man aboard a Benetton-Renault, Michael Schumacher, who finally will be crowned champion for the first time and only one point from their closest rivals, Briton Damon Hill.

Evidence of qualifying for the San Marino Grand Prix that year, had been stained with blood by several accidents. A spectacular despiste Brazilian Rubens Barrichello (Jordan Grand Prix) and the death of Austrian Roland Ratzenberger (S94 Simtek-Ford), who hit 300 km. per hour against a fence located at the height of the curve Villeneuve, thus cutting off a run of 12 years with no deaths in Formula 1.

These accidents caused a severe rebuke to the authorities of part of Ayrton Senna , Who was an obsessive security measures and just noticed that something was wrong in the car, got off and alerted the mechanics, but in Imola, which housed a dramatic past, the fate.

Missing 15 laps to finish the race when a screening, Williams Renault FW16 car of Ayrton Senna, gave full on an infamous concrete wall at the Tamburello curve tragic. Upon impact, one of the wheels stuck fast in the head of the Brazilian, who was unconscious with serious head injuries.

Finally, after several hours in a coma, Ayrton Senna died in the hospital Maggiore in Bologna, but his memory, the idol, the athlete, the myth will never die.
