No doubt Harry Potter fanaticism reaches unexpected levels, especially with the launch of the sixth film in the series). For those unfamiliar with the series, Quidditch is a sport of wizards itself is played on flying broomsticks. Well, today I was surprised to find that there is an Intercollegiate Quidditch Association in America.

Do not believe that this association is insignificant. The league began in 2005 with local teams of Middlebury, and currently has about 200 universities worldwide, some as prestigious as Princeton and McGill. Defending champion (2009) is Middlebury, which shows that there is probably little to do at the university.

I wanted to take a look at the rulebook, but access is restricted by copyright issues (which they have not heard of Creative Commons?). Do not know about you, but the Quidditch in real life seems like a great idea. After all, how many sports of our day did not start this way?
