Summer is here and many of us spend in the comfort of your couch. The leagues of the world are yet to begin, and what we expect, it would not hurt to dust off some movies (of sport, of course!). With apologies to my friends at Cinematical, I show you my selection of 15 classics to enjoy any quiet summer evening. I clarify that they are all films produced in 1999 to back, not to jump if any are missing. I promise to make an entry after 2000 for here. 15. Any Given Sunday (1999) (Any Given Sunday)Excellent story about football, starring Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, Jamie Foxx and Dennis Quaid (Quaid out why so many sports movies?). Must-see Pacino's speech in the locker room before the final game. 14. Jerry Maguire (1996) (Jerry Maguire)One of the best performances of Tom Cruise, which plays a sports agent who suddenly have existential doubts. Ranked within the top 25 sports movies of cinema history. 13. Space Jam: Game of the Century (1996) (Space Jam)Comedy starring Michael Jordan, the greatest basketball player of all time. Fun, and ideal for the nostalgia of seeing the legendary '23 'of the Chicago Bulls. 12. Happy Gilmore (1996) (Happy Gilmore)A guilty pleasure. Adam Sandler plays a frustrated hockey player who competes in a golf tournament to save his grandmother's house. A light comedy with acidic mockery of elitism in sport. 11. The rookie of the year (1993) (Rookie of the year)Baseball film about a boy who signs on majors with the Chicago Cubs (which little need for them to happen in real life). Great for watching with family. 10. Rudy (1993) (Rudy)Rudy wants to play college football, but is too small. One of the stories of personal growth most shocking film. 9. Subzero Jamaica (1993) (Cool Runnings)Based on a true story, chronicles the adventures of the Olympic bobsled team from Jamaica. The ending is captivating, shows the spirit that should reign in the Olympic Games. 8. The whites can not jump (1992) (White Men Can not Jump)In my opinion, the best film about football ever filmed (well, there is not many). Two big players must put aside their egos to form a duo beaten. 7. Field of Dreams (1989) (Field of Dreams)This movie deals with redemption and fulfillment of dreams, on par with the hero (Kevin Costner) builds a baseball diamond in a cornfield. 6. Rocky IV (1985) (Rocky IV)In my opinion, the best of the series. Sobran descriptions. Rocky is compared against the Soviet Ivan Drago. Spectacular making the Russian leadership saw the fight. 5. Chariots of Fire (1981) (Chariots of Fire)Based on a true story. Two young men with different social status, religion and education, prepare to compete for England in the Paris Olympics in 1924. . 4. Escape to Victory (1981) (Victory)One of the few football films of the era. A delight to see Pelé on the screen, plus the emergence copy of Michael Caine as a coach. I think the most comical that Stallone is the goalkeeper. 3. Raging Bull (1980) (Raging Bull)Impressive film that depicts the life of boxer Jack LaMotta. Robert de Niro at his best, and Scorcese laying down the law in the address. 2. Rocky (1976) (Rocky)No description needed, does it? A classic. 1. Golpe bajo (1974) (The Longest Yard)An essential film about football. A quarterback on a team of prison inmates weapon. If you do not get the original, there is a rehash (not so good), Adam Sandler.
