Guille Franco

The soap opera between Guillermo Franco and his signing with Estudiantes La Plata has ended in an unexpected way. While the Mexico-Argentina striker is struggling with the AFA to allow him to participate in the league, his agent has moved and has managed to place at West Ham. Thus, Franco will get his desire to stay in Europe and play in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.

Much credit for this transfer is for Javier Aguirre, who gave him the confidence to continue Guille wearing the jersey of the Mexico team despite his lack of club. Thanks to his performances with the Tricolor, Franco got offers from Monterrey, Estudiantes, San Lorenzo and Real Betis. When it seemed that would enlist with the La Plata, the clashes with the Argentine soccer's governing body led to his departure to England. Not every cloud has a silver lining, the saying goes.

Will Franco holder with his new squad? A priori, competition does not seem so at odds with the Portuguese Boa Morte, Radoslav Kovac Croat, German and Ugandan origin pearl Savio Nserenko as major contenders for the post. Some of the other locker room mates Guille will be in U.S. defender Jonathan Spektor, Chilean midfielder Luis Jimenez, and French midfielder Julien Faubert, famous for his anecdotal way to Real Madrid. Congratulations to Franco, who now must demonstrate the virtues of ram in the competitive English football.
