Atlante

No more Televisa. The Mexican Atlante has signed a contract for $ 3.5 million with ESPN to broadcast its games beginning next week. With this move, the Iron Colts become the first team who has escaped Aztec binomial Televisa - TV Azteca. Already tried the Puebla, trying to sell the rights to Fox Sports Latin America in nearly three million dollars, but the pressure of TV Azteca (and chaos of its board) was stronger.

Nice move Atlante, whose daring future promises more openness. The contract with ESPN seems favored by the state government of Quintana Roo, which seeks greater international presence for the team, and thus promote tourism in Cancun. Televisa had no way to compete with the offer of the TV channel pay, as the contract linking him to the Colts barely reached two million. With ESPN, the Atlas will not only have the opportunity to reach households in Latin America (and eventually, in the U.S.) but will be a pleasure to hear best storytellers in their encounters.

The only problem is that a large segment of the general public loses the opportunity of following the Catalan club. The story of Atlantis is the humble team, left the neighborhood and much of its fondness for red bone does not have the economic possibilities to have pay television service. It is an evil that has spread in Mexican football, given the number of parties that are under concession to the SKY satellite TV company. Shame to sacrifice one sector of his fans in pursuit of internationalization. Still, congratulations to Colt for leaving the fold of the television duopoly. To see if this call attention serves to enhance the quality of their transmissions.
