Mariano Pernia2

Mariano Pernia Good news: After the car accident he suffered in early July, he returned to practice today with his team, Atletico Madrid.

The Argentine, who joined the Spanish selected who played the 2006 World Cup, crashed his car into the town of Rauch (provincia de Buenos Aires) on 7 July. The accident left a toll of a broken collarbone and fifth cervical vertebra, and a severe contusion to the chest that affected one lung, thus doubted he could continue competing. The player, once recovered, was trained on his own in Argentina.

And the good news came today: he underwent a medical checkup at a Madrid clinic, and then went to training at the Ciudad Deportiva de Majadahonda, where he was warmly greeted by his teammates. He talked a few minutes with coach Resino, and made a light practice. Time enough for hard physical work, and he still has work to recover. The important thing was to re-tread the green grass, and that the tanito already did it.
