Rio's Fluminense team became the first South American Cup finalists, beating Paraguay's Cerro Porteno, with two goals in injury time. Maracana Stadium came back to life a memorable day, but this time were the local heroes ...

Fluminense had the advantage obtained in the first leg (1 - 0 goal by Fred) that would fade after 7 minutes of the first half, when Luis Caceres scored for the Paraguayan team. With the series tied, was a tough match, friction, and in which neither team deserved advantage. But it was the Flu, peppy, and attitude, who managed to win with two separate goals at 45 'and 47' of the second half to turn the story and get ticket to the final. Gum and Alan were the joy that led to a team struggling to not go down to the second division of Brazilian football.

The completion of the match led to a shameful episode: the players of both teams took punches, and was the police who had to intervene to stop the brawl, escorting the Paraguayan players to the locker room.

Now, Fluminense will be measured against the winner between LDU and River Plate. Uruguayans won the first leg 2 to 1, and tonight will look at Quito access a continental final for the first time in its history
