Club Atletico Banfield became champions for the first time in Argentine football despite losing the last date to Boca. Newell's, the other person involved in the dispute over the title, fell to San Lorenzo and served on a platter the title to Drill .

The run by Falcioni arrived at the Bombonera with the weight of history on their backs, with the obligation to match a little history with "neighbors" and giving the public the first great joy in more than 113 years. Was the team to rise to the occasion? Not there. In a show full of pathos running through the football time in these lands, Banfield defining and lost the match because he devoted his pursuer only exhibited a similar poverty. Both Newell's and Banfield were found in this last date at a disadvantage on the scoreboard quickly, and were obliged to do what they did throughout the tournament: attack. The lack of ideas was evident, the pressure took its toll on more than one, and both parties completed 0 - 2, which made it possible to conquer the Opening Drill.

Beyond the above, do not detract Falcioni team. Was the best in the tournament? Sure. It was a great champion? In my humble opinion, no. Solido ago, disciplined, with one of the best fliers of the tournament (Walter Ervitti) and a fearsome front, Banfield became a tough opponent for anyone. He had the fence was less mature and less games lost. We must also note in the column of the virtues, the high level shown by some players (Barraza, Bustamante, Bustos, Silva) in the opposite, in most cases, what was done in all his races.

So why I say that it was a great champion? Without detracting from what was done, the truth is that Banfield is enshrined in a startling context of poverty, with large equipment submerged in crisis diverse, with a level of play in 190 games that make the tournament, in general, bad. That Newell's has arrived to the last chance date, only by pulling balls to Boghossian, should be a wake up call.

Little of this mattered to the fans of the drill, and rightly so. It's time to celebrate what they had won fair and square. We'll deal later in the game level, arbitrations, and the emptying of the clubs . Or not.
