Colombian goalkeeper René Higuita decided to hang up his gloves after a game tribute to be held on 24 January. Thus, at 43, Higuita puts an end to a long career, which had its highest point in the Libertadores 1989, which was crowned national champion in Medellin, which enabled him to be summoned to his selection to contest the 1990 finals in Italy.

With his particular style, his scruffy appearance and extravagance at the time of play, Ryan won a special place in popular imagination and somehow revolutionized the position. Without doubt, his greatest legacy is "The Scorpion", which is immortalized in a game against England at Wembley more than 14 years ago.

Throughout his career won 4 titles (all National), scored 52 goals and played in 13 different teams. Most of his professional life was spent in the country, with some trips abroad in Spain (Real Valladolid), Mexico (Tiburones Rojos de Veracruz), Ecuador (Aucas) and Venezuela (Guaros de Lara, club in which he returned to the practice in 2007 after 3 years of inactivity).

He retired a real phenomenon. Health, Rene!
