That was the most dominant player in the league for many years, Shaquille O'Neal has been traded to Phoenix Suns in exchange for Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks, as we announced yesterday.

We all known that Shaquille is not what it was. After winning the ring in 2006, Miami was a lousy campaign and the 2007-2008 season has the worst record in the league. Shaquille has lost many games this season due to knee, in addition to suffering the bad time of divorce.

Regarding last season has dropped his scoring 10 points every night. However, he said that before retiring (he has 35 years journey of 36) wants to win another ring. And what better place to get to Phoenix, which carry some years of trying but never succeed.

In return, the Phoenix Suns have traded Shawn Marion and Marcus Banks. First things first:

- Shawn Marion. It's a very good player, very capable, does everything and everything well (except for its shooting mechanics, but as I write does it matter). However, you do not get the ring and early season defeats requested a trade to another team, but then again not insist. With Steve Nash and Amare Stoudamire has been forming an unstoppable trio over the past few seasons but never reached the NBA Finals each. As always, I stress that the Suns used seven players plus one (because they use very little) every night, and that can prove costly in such a demanding season as the NBA.

Shawn Marion is out of contract this season, so it is perfectly conceivable that in summer look for another team.

- Marcus Banks. Phoenix runs out of reserve base. I think they did wrong to transfer the rights to Portland for Sergio Rodriguez, because he is a player that the game is going that fast or painted. But they got rid of him and now to be Marcus Banks will have to rely more on rookie Strawberry.

What can bring Shaquille O'Neal to Phoenix?

If successful in recovering their best, the ring. Shaquille O'Neal is still a big player dominating and there it stops. In addition to his side will Amare Stoudamire, as the Phoenix area is the most frightening of all the League, giving the best foundation assists: Steve Nash, and luxury extras such as Grant Hill and Leandro Barbosa.

All this if he regains his peak. If not ... have to wait and see.
