We boast some milestones that have been in the history of sport, like Angel Nieto world championships in motorcycling tours or Indurain in cycling, among many others, but so far, in swimming, we were quite short of international best-known .

Gemma Mengual

In recent European Championships held in Eindhoven, Netherlands, Synchronized Swimming team has delighted us with four more precious metal medals, but no doubt the Spanish superstar has been Gemma Mengual, a woman who already has been filed with lyrics gold in the history of Spanish sport.

Born in Barcelona for almost 31 years (the meet on April 12), the swimmer of 1.73 cm. tall and 55 kilos of weight and has managed a whopping 30 medals between Europe and the world, but his greatest success has come this year with the European gold medal in the individual has achieved the three medals that has accompanied most of the same metal: in the team event, in duet and combo. Something that so far no Spanish athlete had done before: get four gold medals at these championships each.

He started on a professional in 1992, and in 1994 and was runner-up junior europe. But this 30-year-old Catalan confessed lover of the movies of Esther Williams (how could it be otherwise) still lacks its most important achievement: an Olympic medal .... sure in the Olympics in Beijing, Spain with her and you have secured the gold medal.
