Schalke 04 coach Mirko Slomka was speaking after his team's defeat at the hands of Barcelona's quarter-finals of the Champions League and regretted having had too much respect to the Spanish team: "Respect lasted too long and needed to talk about it and fix things at halftime. Then sharpen our weapons we knew we had more security and more game over, but we lacked some fortune, "he said.

Mirko admitted that the Catalan club dominated the first half with a goal from Bojan Krkic, but that his team had a great built in the complementary and may even have tied the game if luck was on their side.

On the rematch at the Camp Nou said: "We still have possibilities, but the problem is that we must have a high rate during the 90 minutes in Barcelona. Now we have to score a goal in the Nou Camp and that would have been the same even if we had tied. The tie is not yet sentenced.

When asked about why he had taken his striker Kevin Kuranyi from the field, he quickly responded that he wanted to put fresh blood on the field.
