Kevin Garnett is done with the award for 'Best Defensive Player "of the year

Kevin Garnett, power forward for the Boston Celtics and chief architect of the successful season of his excellent team, has been awarded the prize for 'Best Defensive Player "of the year.

Also sponsored by Kia Motors, which is always present at the awards in the NBA, the prize has been awarded to a player who has averaged 7.3 defensive rebounds per game, 1.2 plugs and 1.4 steals. Numbers a bit low for what we are used to the NBA. In Minnesota Timberwolves, Garnett had better defensive numbers.

Without embago, has weighed the team's accomplishments. Boston Celtics left their opponents 90.3 points per game (are second in points allowed), 9 points lower than last year. The team's success has been such that they have set a record: 42 wins have been achieved over a year repecto past. The previous record was held San Antonio Spurs with 36 games.

The players left at the gates are: Marcus Camby, Shane Battier, Bruce Bowen and Kobe Bryant, among others. Garnett enters and joined the select group of advocates in which many players have said several times, as is the case of Ben Wallace (4 times), Dikembe Mutombo (4 times), Alonzo Mourning (2 times), Haakem Olajuwon (2), Dennis Rodman (2) and many more. Michael Jordan was named best defender of the year in the 1987 season -- 1988.
