Earl Boykins was an unrestricted free agent this summer and his agent has confirmed he has signed for Virtus in Bologna Italy. His contract is worth $ 3.5 million for one season, becoming the highest paid player in the team.

It is the ninth player this summer to pack and cross the Atlantic, and the third try his luck in Europe after playing virtually all his career in the NBA, following Josh Childress and Carlos Arroyo.

Earl Boykins was so far the shortest player in the league active, with 1.65 meters, second only to Muggsy Bogues. As a professional player has played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, New Jersey Nets, Orlando Magic, LA Clippers, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets and Milwaukee Bucks. He was not drafted by the NBA draft.

His best years were spent in Denver, where he was on base and went mad for the opposing defense with his quickness and agility. There he, in his next four years, to overcome the barrier of 10 points, achieving 15.3 and 4.3 rebounds in 2006/07, before being transferred to the Milwaukee Bucks.

Won the individual scoring record of an extension with 15 points, but Gilbert Arenas snatched it shortly after with 16. Earl Boykins was the shortest player to score 30 points or more.
