Sunday was a day to forget. The Spanish tennis demonstrated the great level that is the sport Spanish. Rafael Nadal and the girls doubles, Virginia Ruano Pascual and Anabel Medina met their medals.

The girls began their first doubles match against the Williams sisters unbeatable. Predictably, the Americans swept Vivi Ruano Pascual and Anabel Medina, who sure did not stop smiling as she saw herself being beaten Olympic silver medalist and only the best in the world.

6-2 and 6-0 was the final result. But the Spanish national anthem had to sound in the tennis court and so was the turn of Rafael Nadal, world No. 1 since Monday officially, and Olympic champion. Fernando Gonzalez, who won the gold medal in doubles at Athens, was no match for the Spanish who continues to prove his fitness excellent at 22 years. 6-3, 7-6 and 6-3 was the final result. It was the first gold medal won by the Spanish tennis in the Olympics. I could not come from someone who's great Rafael Nadal.

And tennis in the Games has come to an end. The four gold medals have been distributed. Roger Federer took his spine removal to James Blake in the quarterfinals of singles and won gold in doubles. Meanwhile, Dementieva took the precious metal in female singles, where the Russians showed an alarming superiority.
