Marked by the high presence of social issues and committed as well as low-budget film, the jury headed by British filmmaker Mike Leigh, reveals the list of winners at the 62nd International film festival in Berlin. A prize list is well distributed both in regard to the winning films as countries that each represents. Because none of them is shot in English, one might almost say that it is the year of the triumph of international film and also the youth, because if we exclude veterans Taviani brothers, that rose with the main prize, the rest is distributed among the new generations of filmmakers from countries like Germany, Portugal, Congo, Denmark and Switzerland.

Latin American cinema also had recognition. If on one hand the Luso-Brazilian film, Tabu, directed by Miguel Gomes was one of the most important awards, Delay, co-production between Mexico and Uruguay, which has led Rodrigo Pla, screened out of competition, received the award of readers of a German newspaper, the "film strength and social sensitivity of his portrait." Also, Peruvian filmmaker Claudia Llosa, who in 2009 won the Golden Bear with The Empty Nest, looked like his short film was also Loxoro awarded a Teddy Award for its homosexual theme.
