I'm usually pretty funky for the horror genre even as a teenager, back in the glorious eighties, I have seen many now considered classics of the genre. Then came the wave of gore and no longer bring myself to as many viewings as possible. Let us add that after watching half an hour of The Exorcist, because most could not stand, and whole Amityville II: The Possession, the theme of exorcism and always throw me back. But I must admit that The Devil Inside had a good advertising campaign, starting with a trailer that caught my attention. It seemed like a good mix of thriller and horror where the science-religion duality promised to give an interesting touch. While those behind the same, now, saga Paranormal Activity many who are a bit saturated with the mockumentary we had our doubts, but again, the campaign that were tacking slowly before its release, I confess, I caught it. On the other hand even if the rate Paranormal Activity was really tiring at times, to left and slow, I recognize that it was after all very good resource to catch us off guard with the few scenes "scare" ultimately effective. The problem with The Devil inside the argument here is that promises much more than the film finally offers. At issue at first leisurely pace but intriguing script ends up being a rather indistinct. The film becomes so predictable that any remedy fails surprise than it should. This servant is frightened by anything but ended up really boring and saturated with a handheld camera that more than intimate with both ends being irritable movement, as well as certain details somewhat confusing plot.
It is unfortunate that a film has good performances and some scenes very well end up as a military fiasco. Surely appeal to some viewers, after all always depends on the sensitivity of each, but surely those demanding or fans of the genre will find this film is far from even entertaining. The narrative presented as a fake documentary ends by suddenly turn into a kind of confessional big brother where tension should be set on what happens immediately transferred to the players that if they were portrayed before bravely decided suddenly, and because, they become desperate witness situations that now exceeds. You end up wondering what happened in the middle so that this madman not to panic or crumble and the other does. Also if the first forty minutes of the film, albeit with some cliches but well resolved through pose a sexy storyline, little by little this is consumed in a string of attempts to impressionable scenes are nothing that a lot of screaming and prayers, curses of the past and details of each left wanting more. Suddenly the film ends up being a deafening noise that seeks all-adrenaline dump that never fully came to reflect and even some characters end up contradicting themselves in dialogue rather descolocados the context. At the risk of mistake I would say that at times even edited the film is bad. Maybe that's one of the triggers for a last minute very poor for a film that promised well eventually causing the viewer is not sure what is happening or what we wanted to tell after all. At times open some lines about the past of the characters who later come to naught. It is obvious that maybe this is a ploy for a later second part, would not surprise me, but William Brent Bell, director and screenwriter of the film fails to provoke an atmosphere in the audience after all be scared, as is supposed to a history of this genre, or even at least be entertained. I admit I already mockumentary fashion bores me personally as well. There are few films that subsequent to that pioneer The Blair Witch Project , but with differences because this was not in itself but a supposed documentary called found footage, few films that emulate the aesthetics are really good. The Devil inside will certainly be a more of the many movies that are on exorcisms which neither the heels of the classic gem directed by William Friedkin in 1973. One option to see if they still want to engage in the adventure of curiosity removed in the comfort of home when you throw it on DVD or Blu-Ray. Otherwise, do not say that they were not warned.
