Few infant prodigies of film and television after a character or iconic scene they have developed a good race until today. Haley Joel Osment still bears, and possibly take over your life, the stigma of that scene in The Sixth Sense in which he wrapped up his nose scared declared the famous Bruce Willis I see dead people. His career since that time has not stopped to develop if we count the times he has lent his voice to the video game series Kingdom Hearts, but it was not until 2003 that we saw in a film produced by a major studio like New Line is Cinema in the film Secondhand Lions with Michael Caine and Robert Duvall.

Since then his roles seem to have been routed by the challenge of film rather independent or smaller studies such as the Home of the Giants in 2007 or last year in Montana Amazon. Well, the young actor who already has 24 years, recently premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival an enjoyable comedy drama called Sassy Pants born a short written and directed by Shon Coley, an actress, now director, who fights to see your film distributed after mass had an excellent reception at the festival and to have an award at Sundance in 2009 when he was still short.

The odd thing is that even film from a director of a novel and very limited budget, features a cast conspicuously known for such independent circuit. Along with participating Osment Anna Gunn, Dietrich Bader, Martin Spanjers and great Jenny O'Hara, which many will remember for Mystic River and a tip of successful roles in different series as NCSI, Dr. House, Nip / Tuck or Six Feet Under .

Sassy Pants tells the story of Bethany, a recent graduate girl who lives with his brother and a controlling mother who has forced her to complete studies at home. Dreaming of independence from oppressive family environment, her mother falls to complete his studies at a distance, via online, and that coupled with a love that her mother objects, causing his sudden flight to the trailer where his father lives with her partner , a boy about her age played by Osment.

On the occasion of his presentation at the festival in Santa Barbara, Collider has posted a great interview in which we can know what it meant for the young actor playing a role totally different from those made so far.

I've played other characters that I added features of people I knew but this just tried to understand why Chip from script does things he does. It is not true to Dale, but still wants to be with him and goes with him to Mexico. There was something free-spirited in his attitude to me was very easy.
What's so cliché these magical characters is the gay friend who has all the answers and Chip is not that kind of people. He just does the best he can for her friend. The fact that Bethany is surrounded by all these people so different, that help both as obstacles, but trying to do the best they can, is really what makes it so real and yet uncomfortable. I feel I've done a good job when you think of the character but to interpret people say, oh, I have met someone like that. That's when you feel like you've done well.

In the words of one director the film has not yet distributed to someone who has toured various festivals with success but still in search of someone who trusted in the film. Osment plays a character not to be center of history, his speech is reduced to about five or six scenes, but surely many would pay to see an actor's performance much more play than we've seen so far. The real protagonist of the story is Ashley Rickards, actress best known for television series such as American Horror Story or One Tree Hill.

As we can see in the trailer below, is a story tinged comedy-drama that looks really interesting and would seem to entertain as well as thrill. Will tell if we have the joy of seeing her on the big screen or at least in a direct output to DVD.
