Endangered animals: the world's smallest chameleon. Madagascar is home to many species that are particularly amazing, the sad thing is that several are about to disappear forever.

It is for these newly discovered dwarf chameleons. This is a variety of Brookesia called Brookesia micron, a tiny reptile, as small as never seen before.

On the island of Nosy Hara a team of researchers has found what may be the world's smallest chameleons. Its maximum length is 2, 9 mm, and some are so small that they can hold onto the head of a match.

Brookesia chameleons were discovered about 30 years ago and have many varieties. This útlimo, the Brookesia micron, appears to be the smallest. The tiny chameleon does not change color for camouflage, but simply makes mixing with the dry leaves that have the same shade as your skin. It feeds on small insects and mites.

The Brookesia micron, along with 6 of the same species are in danger of extinction , as only live in isolation in Madagascar in small ecosystems. All the islands of Madagascar should be protected as it houses many unique species to be extinct there, will not find anywhere else.
