Telefonica is focusing its efforts on growing their customer base fiber. Although ADSL loses customers, the monthly increase of FTTH customers measure it with two digits. Besides being the highest paying, have serious problems for the operator to leave for better offers.

The newspaper Cinco Dias brings up a problem that is now given in a timely manner but with the expected growth Movistar FTTH can become an impediment to competition and choice for customers.

Although fiber Movistar offer is very tempting, reaching up to 100/10 Mbps offer the same price that until recently cost the ADSL 6 Mb, not everyone can afford each month a monthly, adding line and VAT from € 64.75. Many users who hired Movistar fiber and have enjoyed the promotional price during the first months, now have to face the final fee. To this we must add that the other operators offer connections to a reasonable speed with lower price, especially during the first year. Under these conditions, it is logical that some customers give up their benefits fiber, carrying your ADSL line to other operators to pay less.

The problem arises when you start contracting with an alternative, the customer number is not listed in the database pairs. Telefónica maintains this database, but lack of regulation requiring it, they only appear in the copper lines.

The problem has puzzled the alternative, until they discovered what happens. The situation benefits Telefónica, not only because it makes it difficult for its competitors, but because it gives the opportunity to entice the customer with a counteroffer to not to leave when called to ask why can not carry their line.

Is removing the copper Telefónica installing fiber?

Another possible problem that may arise in the future is the difficulty of returning to the copper because it no longer exists. Information confirmed some users have reported on the forums , Telefónica could be withdrawn from the rush of copper in some buildings to install FTTH, which will force the new operator to take on installation costs. Where the problem arises is in safe neighborhoods where new construction is not pulled directly and copper.
