The official premiere of Elementary , CBS series based on Sherlock Holmes, not until Sept. 27, but has already been leaked on the net the pilot. This procedural was created by Rob Doherty, responsible for hits such solvents as a medium and as embarrassing as Ringer clunkers. His vision of the character is far removed from the Steven Moffat and Mark Gattis, creators of Sherlock triumphs in BBC, Doherty's character has moved to New York, changed the gender of Watson and Holmes has made in the rehabilitation process.

The cast of the series is headed by Johnny Lee Miller as Sherlock, Lucy Liu is Dr. Joan Watson and Aidan Quinn plays the captain Tobias Gregson, who enlists the help of detective to solve the complicated cases that occur in their jurisdiction.

As an absolute fan of the BBC Sherlock knew about this remake of the CBS I assumed it would be something terrible and forgettable. What I have seen is a classic procedural something like The Mentalist or Psych or TNT Perception of USANetwork. Elementary is not Sherlock, if the characters to have other names could obviate the debate of whether it is better version of the BBC or the CBS. I wont follow keeping in mind the idea that I'm not seeing the immortal detective created by Arthur Conan Doyle;'m facing another series of weekly cases featuring a clever and eccentric woman accompanied by a sensible and intelligent.

If people want to spend hours debating which of the two series is better it is clear that the winner will be the English. I do not want to waste time on useless debates, because I have very clear that this is not even trying to sell it Sherlock Holmes as such.

A number of these features based their success or failure on three key factors:

  • The relationship established between the protagonists. Must be something organic, natural and bit forced, a good match is difficult to achieve should be a perfect blend of TSNR (unresolved sexual tension), fellowship, differences, confrontation, trust, drama and humor. Great couples like Mulder and Scully (The X-Files), Pete and Myka (Warehouse 13) and Reese and Charlie (Life) is the paradigm that should aspire Elementary with Sherlock and Joan.

  • Solid cases. In procedural solve a case every week. If such cases are too simple or obvious the audience will suffer if they are too convoluted or too improbable lose followers. The couple has to face challenges and puzzles that test their skills, but in the end we can not solve everything with a Deus Ex Machina or something that has little or nothing to do with the plot.

  • Secondary and guest stars. A good pair of solid and fun side do much good to a procedural. Add to that a group of first-rate guest stars or with a lot of baggage behind the public's will. A clear example of this is The Good Wife, is spoken almost as much of your guests (Matthew Perry, Michael J. Fox, Carrie Preston, Rita Wilson, Martha Plimpton and Jason Biggs) and its protagonists.

The two protagonists

Johnny Lee Miller, remembered for his role in Trainspotting, you can not avoid him and again compare with Benedict Cumberbatch, the controversy we like it?. The UK does what he can with a stigmatized role, we all have preconceived ideas of how it should be Holmes and if the actor does not conform to our version of the character is not going to like what we see on screen.

Miller's character is a brilliant man who just got out of rehab. It has a knife-sharp mind never stops working, a gift rather than a gift seems a burden. We are facing one wild and trying to rebuild shattered life after hitting bottom. Something happened in London, something that made him lose control and he has deeply. Never admit that you need help but his father, in the shadow puppeteer, assigned a guard dog, Dr. Joan Watson (Lucy Liu).

Sherlock's aesthetic is modern and casual. Her body is tattooed, seeks information on Google and practical because it understands that sex is a fundamental physiological need but do not enjoy the process.

A Miller can overreact his histrionics and, speaking very fast-something that suits her just a few characters sorkinianos - and behaves like a madman and antisocial. There will be people who enjoy their presence and others not, overall its contribution is more than acceptable and can polish those little faults with the passage of time.

Lucy Liu has surprised me, the actress who composes a three dimensional character that conveys emotions through its silences and glances. She is the companion - a term used in the series - Sherlock and certainly could compare his Joan Watson with Rose Tyler and Donna Noble, to name some of the companions of Doctor Who.

Joan is an intelligent woman of strong convictions and character. It can take from one room to Sherlock if it deems necessary or close his mouth with his hand. Still marvels at the perspicacity of his "guarded" during the pilot would see as quite curious. A mixture of curiosity and fascination that will be the lead, ultimately, to stay with Holmes.

Chapter

The Elementary Pilot pretends to be brilliant but the case raises is quite loose, and the resolution of it, out of the blue, it makes the viewer feel cheated. A chapter of 45 minutes with a good start that will lose steam and interest as research progresses?? the case.

The pilot provides the basis of a procedural that could, if they work hard, be above average. We know we can expect from Elementary, a weekly event that Sherlock will attempt to clarify assisted by Joan. Holmes will demonstrate multiple eccentricities and a modus operandi for unorthodox, in the closing stages of the episode, solve the murder / kidnapping / robbery leaving the police with their mouths open.

We will follow the evolution of this series to see if it settles Sherlock, definitively, on the grid of the CBS broadcast.
