Deadlight as the game goes forward at this Summer Live Arcade. Team Works Tequila managed to position its title as one of the most interesting and of course we really wanted to test the work of the Spanish study in the end not been disappointed.

Deadlight 3

The title puts us in the shoes of Randal Wayne a ranger in the midst of an invasion of "undead" looking frantically for her lost daughter and wife. And start showing in style with a style of interactive comic, that our hero can not have mercy if you want to survive the pandemic. Because the zombies (which here are called shadows) do not think stopping to kill every living thing.

Death on your heels

It is true that the genre of zombies is only exploited in the world of video games. We have titles for all tastes, Resident Evil, Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, to name just a few. But the success of Tequila Works is trying to change the experience. This time it is not crushing undead go armed to the teeth with high powered military equipment. In Deadlight have to run most of the time.

You will have in the game of course, with weapons to protect you, the classic pistol and shotgun for example. But although these can help take away some dead not over, as the two come together you spend hard time and if you stay in the middle of a horde of more than three you can go given up for dead. This causes you constantly thinking about the easiest way to dodge and flee rather than confront them because you know you are always losing and ammunition is scarce. Above the shadows just die if you shoot them in the head.

You also get other weapons like a slingshot (which will serve to activate certain mechanisms) and an ax that could save your ass a few times if not for that has two major drawbacks. The first is that it is heavy and we're pretty clumsy when it comes to handle and the second is that we have a sort of energy bar that diminishes with every hit we take it again, and stay with several enemies in front of the most Insurance is to finish pushing daisies. For defeating a shadow we must first throw and then finish him on the floor or rise again and again.

The forward precision

Deadlight is basically a 2D platform game so you have to go with open eyes and reflexes to stop because we're going to run into a thousand surprises along the way. To pass a stage will be to climb, rolling, bending, gain momentum and jump around. And the latter will cause us some headaches.

Deadlight 1

At certain points of our route we will be stuck because the semi-jump system is structured so that if you are not in a very precise point, the jump seems impossible. So the mechanical misleads you making you look elsewhere when all you had to do is get an inch ahead. After a few attempts you start to catch a little trick, but it really is more annoying than effective because it is not jumping from a ledge to another but, for example, to have a platform above you and not reach it if are not in the exact spot that the developer has chosen.

Other than that the gameplay is very attractive, especially diverse. When you're climbing a building to save you from the shadows, you'll be outstanding jumping like crazy to break free from persecution, avoiding water areas (Randall can not swim, drown in a pool directly) or solving small puzzles to the next level. So the game does not become heavy and ever, quite the contrary, you will like a sigh.

Ready to die?

Throughout the game you will be in tension trying to prepare for what the game ahead. And is that to the next level will be measured to the millimeter every move, especially if you're on a level of persecution and that is precisely what will cause us difficulties to make progress. Shall we try again and again to discover certain levels the perfect way to move us forward.

Just do not have to worry about lives because we have a limit, resurrected again and again, in any case it's all about patience and coordination to know where the pitfalls are and how we can avoid them in time we have. That is about the challenge of the game because personally, I found the puzzles complicated.

Deadlight 1

Visually, Tequila Works has done a very good job. The decadent world in which transitas is full of details that might find it beautiful if it were not because you're too busy to save life. The way we have worked on use of lights and shadows on stage to help the atmosphere much alive causing the feeling of loneliness and devastation of which is spoken in the story.

Will last a sit

We can not admit that Deadlight is a short game. Five or six hours of play but in the final count of your lap are not reflected because they have no deaths or retries. My time for the first time by example was two hours.

So yes, the game can last you practically one sitting, two if you do not have much free time you have to divide the effort but it seems to me an ideal time. I prefer a game that takes me to stop all the time and it lasts just one last me seven hours but I have to suffer from boredom to pass.

If anything maybe the price of 1200 Microsoft Points is probably overkill for the duration of the game, is something that everyone will have to ponder, but I sincerely believe that more minutes they had not done more fun.

7/10

Deadlight is an excellent first game for Tequila Workss have to monitor their work in the future because there is much potential waiting to be exploited. It is a game with a beautiful setting and a game system that keeps you hooked throughout its duration. His control is not very accurate and the game experience is short but in my opinion worth a try.
