There are reports that, because of its impact, cost too much to digest, especially when they affect services that are widely used in things that we use almost daily. According to a report by the Associated Press , Megaupload , a popular repository of files closed and their workers have been accused of piracy . The news really is an impact (especially when you consider some of the figures: 1,000 million users, 50 million daily active users and traffic equal to 4% of the total network) and although not have stood still many data, Megaupload website does not work and, as discussed in the Wall Street Journal , would have charged seven workers of online piracy, and of these, four have been detained since the result of research carried out by the FBI for two years. The Department of Justice United States has published a note concerning this case, as discussed in some details about the arrests and investigation. As discussed, seven individuals and two companies (Vestor Megaupload Limited and Limited) have been accused of piracy worldwide generating a loss valued at 500,000 million dollars to the owners of intellectual property rights. Although, according to the Wall Street Journal said, this action has nothing to do with the movements and protests around SOUP , action carried out by U.S. authorities is quite graphic because the detainees have been accused of breaking the law relating to copyright, conspiracy to commit intellectual property crimes and conspiracy to commit monetary fraud among other charges, ie, facing 30 years in prison if found guilty of all charges. Four of the detainees have been arrested in New Zealand while the FBI continues to have the offices of the companies looking for documentation that serves to document the economic activity in addition to locating Megaupload data centers that are located on servers that support the service. The detainees are responsible for marketing, Finn sweet potatoes, Julius Benck designer, the business development manager Sven Echternach, co-founder and director Mathias Ortmann, responsible for software and Andrus Nommo programming supervisor Bram van der Kolk. Now what? That's the big question because it is not known if the Megaupload service unavailability is due to the seizure of the domain, a server outage or a DNS problem, what does seem clear is that we face interference in the data stored on the service in which, in many cases, private data to many users will not be able to access (and are the rightful owners).
