We were expecting much of the past that Microsoft offer keynote at CES, led by its CEO Steve Ballmer. However, the Redmond giant's conference left us with little new and more commonplace. Ballmer focused on the obvious news: Windows Phone, Windows 8, mobile devices and tablets. But the information he revealed was in part already, so we're going with a bittersweet taste in the mouth for not knowing more about the new Windows operating system. However, consoles brought us a surprise.

The first important point of Ballmer's keynote was Windows Phone . "The first phone that puts people first," he said, after concluding that they are handled differently than other companies. To illustrate, Ballmer took a Nokia Lumia. Then he went on to detail some of the functionality of new phones that have Windows Phone, moving finally to Windows 8, its system of Picture Password, and most interesting of all, Metro style interface appears to be a combination of a mobile operating system and a PC. This interface will also be on Xbox, which has 66 million users as revealed in this keynote, and allow us to download various applications. Another of the ads was associated with Kinect. Lumia can be used to control the Kinect, but beyond the addition of Metro interface, things do not seem to have changed much. With TV and Kinect Kinect in Windows, on the other hand, everything has become topsy-turvy.

The first to the scene was Garry Shapiro, who gave a brief introduction to CES. According to Shapiro, and this will be no surprise, the PC has become a true entertainment hub for everyone, but particularly for the home. Shapiro recalled the first time that Bill Gates took the stage to the ETUC, in 1995, to assert that the future of computing was on consumers. Later, Shapiro said that Microsoft would be taking "a break" from the keynotes at CES, shattering rumors of a definitive departure from the Redmond company.

Finally, Ballmer took the stage with her traditional uniform: gray pants and blue shirt. What was untraditional was the reception, which included a series of eleven speeches from Gates autotune modified to look like a song. He also appeared on stage Ryan Seacrest, a Microsoft partner for several years, to serve as master of ceremonies and organizer of the event. After that, began the presentation Metro User Interface, in all Microsoft products.

As there have been many things that were announced, here is the summary of each:

  • Were not disclosed on the system too many new Windows Phone. In fact, we could see that he shares with Windows 8 Metro Style interface, and many of its components, so that we can venture out and say Microsoft's move will be to merge mobile PC very soon. It is far fetched and could be more than interesting.

  • Windows 8, who thought it would be the star of the night, gave us not too new, but we see much more of Metro and interface as well as Picture Password. What Microsoft has shown us is that they are betting big on Windows 8 tablets, and have learned a lot from Apple and its iPhone to carry the project forward.

  • Windows applications can be downloaded through Windows Store, which is enabled from the end of February. Around the same time also begin to see more news about Windows 8, at least, most of which were unveiled at CES.

  • As for XBOX and Kinect, here we find the most important developments. These consoles are also adapted to Metro Style, and will feature integration with Bing. But most important of all is in Kinect, allowing us to have a whole interactive experience with our favorite TV series. In addition, this will Kinect February 1 for Windows. XBOX, meanwhile, will offer a series of application downloads from which we have some of Canal +, Movistar, Antena 3, Netflix, and more.

Thus, the great stars of the night have been Metro Style, Kinect and XBOX. You can read all our live coverage, with more news and statistics, in this post .
