If there is a sector that has been clearly benefited from the emergence of IPAD has been to the magazines. Although, in my opinion, the Apple device can not be considered an electronic book reader as such, but rather a casual reader of the same (sorry Mr. Jobs, but where you put a Kindle to read, to remove their IPAD), the subject of magazines and comics, are other very different words which, without doubt, make the IPAD in the ideal device.

This is where we meet again an old acquaintance of all, Zinio, the service we provided access to an extensive catalog of magazines published in Spain, but in digital format, and in its desktop version continues to be almost a dedicated version of Adobe Reader. But the version of IPAD, how could it be otherwise, is another story. Zinio for IPAD is a great invention.

The application is divided into three main sections that are at the bottom. The Highlights section where we have the covers of magazines that may be interested (the cover of FHM Prendes Paula appeared to me to my course I thought "outstanding"), the Library where we all learned our magazines and Shop section where can access the entire catalog of Zinio and buy what they are interested. Once we see the magazine you can be interested, we can buy your last issue, the final purchase back issues or subscribe to the magazine for a certain number of copies from the last number, usually corresponding to one year of publication, and that we allow, once the new issue is published, let us know and we can download it. All purchases are archived on the server and can be downloaded as many times as you like, so if you delete a journal of the device, we can always re-download or down also on the computer, regardless of IPAD.

The purchase from the device is comfortable, because once you have selected what we want, and Safari sends us an SSL secure connection, which will introduce our card and our data. Validated the data by clicking on continue, since Safari Zinio back again we will have our purchase and available for download. The download is quite fast and is online, which means that when we press, we may be seeing the content as it is downloaded.

As to the Spanish magazines, Zinio provides a wide range of publications, which, in all cases, make certain words or Web addresses to click on them. In the case of links within the magazine, we can browse the items from the index (for example) by pressing the article, and if the magazine shows a web address, Zinio has composed for IPAD Safari engine to open up that page, allowing her, and when we're done, click Close and return to the magazine.

The quality of the scans is quite good and we can double tap to zoom in on it and read more carefully, and with good quality. Clicking on any one single moment anywhere in the magazine, we are below the visual index of pages on which we can navigate and move, or the option to leave the magazine and back to the library. If we close Zinio on a page of a magazine, to reopen show us where we were and if we open a magazine and open, continue reading on the page we were. The operating speed and page loading is very good and fluid.

There is a magazine format, which does not exist for any Spanish magazine called Zinio Interactive, in which the normal flow of a magazine, there is the possibility to access interactive content such as videos embedded within the pages, photo galleries or text versions of articles, features very similar to those it provides, for example, the implementation of the digital version of Wired. There are some interesting additions and that work very well, but as we say, not Spanish journals (still). Logically, these journals are slow to download, as all content is low in our device to enjoy it offline.

In short, as you can see Zinio for IPAD is a great application that allows access to digital versions of our favorite magazines in an easy, fast and convenient. We can say that from its early versions has improved a lot and now it is an application to the height of IPAD.

But not everything will be good. Zinio has some problems. First and foremost is that being an international service in the store buying options appear in English (not in Castilian) is not a good image, and when I had to go buy a huge number of countries in the drop-down list to find Spain. Also, if you lose your internet connection if you download a copy, there is no way to re-download and the review is incomplete. We must remove the magazine from the device and then return to retrieve it for you download from the beginning. There are big bugs, but there are so that those responsible can be arranged if we read.

Finally, commenting that the price of digital editions are somewhat lower than the printed, of course, being in some cases, slightly less than 1 € of difference. For example, the printed Macworld costs 6 € and € 5.17 digital, FHM and 2.07 € 2.70 € digital form, Action Cine-Video, digital print € 2.80 and € 1.80. Maybe I could be somewhat greater the difference in some cases, but the advantages of this format are very good and at the end we are talking about prices, originally for print editions, and are reduced.

In conclusion, apart from a few tweaks you need the application in general is a great service, a very good option and a free application that works very well and we recommend here if you are regular readers of magazines such as Very Interesting, FHM, Macworld and even Hello.
